About The Course
Course contents:
At the end of the course, learners shall be able to:
• understand the relevant legislations / Singapore Standards SS 573 (formerly Code of Practice 101)
• understand the roles and responsibility of forklift operator and other stakeholders
• prepare and maintain a safe and healthy workplace for forklift operations
• perform inspection of forklift and its major components prior to commencement of work (Pre operational preparation duty) in accordance with WSH regulations, SS 573 and organisational SOP
• carry out forklift operations
• reinstate and hand over forklift at the end of duty
This course aims to provide people who wish to be a forklift operator with the skills & knowledge required to operate forklift (below 5 tonnes)
Course Duration:
35 Hours (including assessments) 4 Days
Exam Format
Theory assessment: 30 MCQ, 45 mins
Practical assessment: Hands on, 45 mins
Attendance requirement: – 100%
Medium of Instruction:
English
Certification validity – Valid for lifetime. The learners are recommended to attend the refresher training on the operation of forklifts every 3 years.
Entry Requirements
Entry Requirement:
• Learners must be physically fit and in good health
• not subject to deafness
• defective sight or other infirmity which would render him unfit to perform forklift operation safely.
• Learners must be above 18 years of age.
Assumed Skills and Knowledge
• Learners are assumed to be able to listen and speak English at a proficiency level equivalent to the Employability Skills System (ESS)
• Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Level 3 and above or equivalent
• Learners are assumed to be able to interpret work instructions and technical information
• Learners are assumed to be able to read and write English at a proficiency level equivalent to ESS level 3 and
• Learners are assumed to be able to process number a proficiency level equivalent to ESS level 3
